Junior Rams 8 Tries- Dairyboys 0 Tries

by GGRFC Webmaster

Lucky Seven cream the Dairyboys!!

The question that I was asking myself all week was, "Are Llanharan going to have a full 10?"

The answer was "No, we only have 7"." Thank God", I thought "because we only have 7 also!!"

Today we were missing Liam, Dylan S, Tyler, Jordan and little kiddy dynamo Dylan J.

The Show goes on...

Jake celebrated his 9th birthday today and because of this lead the Rams into battle. He chose to receive the ball, and it couldn't have worked out any better. The ball went straight to the elusive Dylan W, and this boy has the most natural spin out of a tackle that I have ever seen on the field. He simply spun his way out of four tackles and then sped to the tryline to score a great try.

We then kicked deep and some great tackling by Riley out on the left wing dislodged the ball from a big Llanharan runner. It rolled along the floor and was scooped up by Ben who showed super gas to score a trademark try.

Dairyboys heads were now beginning to sink and the Junior Rams piled on even more pain when the powerhouse Cameron, took a lovely ball from hard-working Jack, put his head back and scorched the grass as he scored a very popular try with the large number of travelling supporters.

Tackles were now coming in thick and fast, as Ben and Jake were both talked to for "over zealous",tackling should we say. Jake made a comment to the referee and was penalised with another backward march of 5 metres, and we were now on our try line.

Amazingly, this is where the boys show great composure. They tackled, left the ball, tackled, left the ball and Jack and Riley forced another Llanharan fumble. Jake pounced on it and went from one touchline to the other, and then back, and then back again, and eventually found a gap out wide to pick up his first birthday try.

4-0 at the interval, and things were looking good. A quick re-fuel and then it was back down to business. The Dairyboys looked like a beaten side and Jake quickly nipped over for another.

Then came the moment of the match.

There was a quick reshuffle behind the scrum, and for the first time all season, the unbelievable happened...Jack spun a lovely ball from the base of the scrum to Dominic, who nicely fed Ben, he then took the ball on and put Cameron into space on the right wing- this is the first time the ball has actually gone all the way across the backline to the winger!!!- Cameron thanked the boys with a thunderous run down the wing, evaded the touchline and fed back inside to Dominic to crash over for a brilliant try.

The Dairyboys were now well and truly "whipped". Ben stampeded around and over tacklers for his second and Jake added the icing to his birthday cake by wrapping up affairs with a sweet third.

Leon, Tonka, Mike and myself were smiling from ear to ear, as it was nice to see skills developed in training, used on the field. After all, isn't that why we train?
