Llanrug 2 Glan Conwy 4
Glan Conwy’s up and down season continued with a fine 4-2 win away to Llanrug. The match started in fairly even fashion with both sides working hard to create chances but both sides defending resolutely. It was Glan Conwy who broke the deadlock on 10 minutes. Glan man of the match CHRIS BEARDMORE
did well to win the ball and lay it off to MEZ KNIGHT
whose super cross was met and steered in by Gavin Roberts from 8 yds.
Chances then fell at each end with Rhys Roberts and GARETH JONES
both being foiled by Glan keeper Paul Davies while at the other end LLanrug custodian Dave Ball also saved well from CHRIS KING
and Alun Webb. Glan were starting to become frustrated with some rather bizarre decisions were seeming to go against them but they rallied together and deservedly doubled their lead on 33 minutes. Alun Webb showed great persistence down the right, staying on his feet after twice being fouled by the LLanrug fullback, and his cross found CHRIS KING
who fired home from 12 yds. Glan were now buzzing and went 3-0 up on 41 minutes. Gavin Roberts burst through from mid field and cleverly found MEZ KNIGHT
on the edge of the box, who showed great skill and composure to beat see of defender Terry Jones and slide the ball past Ball nd into the bottom corner at the far post.
Half time score LLanrug 0 Glan Conwy 3
Glan Conwy started the second stanza in determined fashion with Ball again saving well from CHRIS KING
and Alun Webb while at the other end Rhys Evans and GARETH JONES
ran tirelessly to try and get LLanrug back in the game but the Glan defence, led well by Richie Orme and Dan Roberts stood firm.
fired in a super shot that was well saved by Ball but MEZ KNIGHT
was on hand to latch on to the loose ball to score his second and Glan’s forth. In typical LLanrug fashion they refused to lie down and got what should have been a consolation goal on 83 minutes when substitute Gareth Edwards fired in a loose ball from an uncleared corner. The same player fired in his second of the game 5 minutes later to make it a nervy last few minutes for Glan, but they held firm to see the game out.
