Glapwell hoping to beat the weather

Weather permitting, Glapwell will play their first game in three weeks this Saturday when the visitors to Hall Corner will be mid-table Ollerton Town, kick-off 3pm.

But there will be a doubt over the game due to the recent poor weather. The forecast isn’t too promising, either, with further snow and freezing temperatures expected towards the end of the week.

If the game does go ahead, though, Glapwell will be looking to build on their victory against DFS Welbeck last time out but their momentum from that game will have stalled after the last two games were postponed.

And they will be up against an Ollerton side that come into the game in 11th place with 28 points from their 20 games. But their recent form is impressive with only two defeats from their last nine games, with six victories in that spell.

They were defeated in their previous game at Thoresby but won their four games before that scoring 19 goals, which included back-to-back 6-0 victories against Thorne and Phoenix. They will likely include two players that have featured for Glapwell this season, left-back Ricky Starbuck and striker Lee Easom, who scored 14 goals for Glapwell prior to his departure in December.

The sides last met back in November with the game finishing 2-2 with Ollerton scoring the equaliser with only four minutes remaining, after goals from Lee Easom and Kye Martey saw Glapwell come from behind early on despite seeing Jay Whalley sent off in the first half.

Admission £3 Adults, £1.50 Concessions.
