Glapwell got 2015 off in fine style as a goal in either half saw them record a 2-0 home victory over Ollerton Town.

The result moved Glapwell back up to sixth in the table and is a very welcome result against an Ollerton side that are always difficult to get a result against.

The opening of the game was really scrappy with neither side creating any real clear-cut opportunities with Jamie Senior twice firing over the bar from long range while Josh Parfitt should have done better at the other end as he headed wide from 12 yards.

Glapwell broke the deadlock, though, three minutes before the break when Josh Parfitt's shot beat the visiting keeper but the danger appeared to be dealt with by Eddie Bishop but he was closed down by Lee Naughton who bundled the ball over the line.

The lead was doubled just before the hour when Josh Parfitt did brilliantly inside the area before firing an effort low inside the near post.

It should have been even better before the end when visiting keeper Louis Sprigg missed the ball and James Whitfield picked it up but he chose to shoot early and dragged it wide when he had a full net to aim at.

But, overall a very pleasing performance and result for Glapwell which moves them up to sixth ahead of difficult back-to-back away games, starting next Saturday at second-placed Thoresby CW, KO 2pm.
