Nathan Whitehead's hat-trick helped Glapwell to a victory over bottom side Sherwood Colliery as they won 3-1 at Hall Corner.

It was far from a vintage Glapwell performance and they made very hard of it in the first period and despite having the better chances they went into the break on level terms.

Glapwell took the lead five minutes after the break when Jason Foster's free-kick from the right was met by a towering Nathan Whitehead header.

The visitors were level, though, five minutes later as Glapwell conceded the cheapest of goals when Harry Joule capitalised on an almighty mix-up at the back to slot the ball home after rounding Ryan Hopkins.

Glapwell continued to press, though, and got their reward 15 minutes from time when Whitehead did well before finishing under the keeper from the edge of the area.

It was 3-1 just moments later when Whitehead completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after Jonathan Heston had been brought down in the area.

Overall, not the best performance but a win nevertheless which keeps Glapwell in sixth but helps them close the gap on the sides above them while Sherwood remain without a point but can take heart from a battling performance.
