When League influenced ANNIESLAND

Kevin Ferrie's article in today's Herald. About changing attitudes towards Rugby League prompted memories of when an exponent of the 13 aside code coached at Hawks
One Robert Ackerman Newport ,London Welsh, Wales and Lions before becoming Whitehaven's record signing playing also for Leeds and Salford
Rob coached Hawks along with Peter Wright to a League and Cup double before departing to New Zealand
He returned several years later with his school side Christs College to play a Hawks Development XV
Hawks had Andy McPhail capped at League a few years back
Old ANNIESLAND over recent years has hosted several Rugby League internationals something that would never have been contemplated in days goneby
Even the Simmers Clan flirted with the League code but that is for. another time
