A STRATEGY FOR WORKING WITH CLUBS. CLUB WORKING PARTY REPORT

Scottish Rugby established a working party last season appointed by and tasked to assist the Board and Council with the consideration and implementation of the specific club policy initiative to develop the club game in Scotland.

The remit of the seven-member working party was to review and develop the proposed "Strategy for Working with Clubs” policy initiative, published back in December (2013), and where necessary or appropriate, to consider and recommend alternative or additional steps that could be taken to achieve the policy paper's stated objectives.

Following six initial meetings and correspondence with clubs, the working party assembled a report setting out a series of conclusions and recommendations for the future of club rugby in Scotland.

The Board and Council have endorsed the main conclusions and are grateful for the assistance provided by the members of the Working Party. The detailed work required to enable implementation is now being undertaken – for example, structures in Domestic Rugby for Club Services and Domestic Rugby Support have been put in place.

It is important to note that this remains a working document. In essence it serves as a guide to assist the Union in achieving the underlying objectives of the policy initiatives.

We encourage all club members, coaches, players and volunteers to read the enclosed report to get a better understanding of the future direction for club rugby in Scotland. Your feedback is welcome.
