CAPTAIN GARETH HUNTER GIVES HIS THOUGHTS ON THE UPCOMING GAME

GARRY MOLLON
- GARRY MOLLON

Glasshoughton Welfare are back in action tomorrow when they entertain league leaders Winterton Rangers at the TJs arena.

Welfare go into the game after back to back defeats in the last week and here skipper Gareth Hunter gives his thoughts about the game and the past few days.

"What a difference a week can make. After two awful games and not particularly playing well in our 3-0 win over shirebrook, the lads are feeling a bit low. But the atmosphere is a positive one still, everyone knows we all could have done more and what we need to do to put it right.!

"I honestly can’t remember the last time we lost back to back, it must be about a year ago. We have conceded some shocking goals, which again I can’t remember us doing in a long time either and we haven’t looked like scoring, which again, usually we are free flowing."

"But all credit goes to Swallownest and Harworth, because no matter how bad we were last Saturday and again on Tuesday night night they still had to do there bit to win and they did. If we had gone away somewhere on a Tuesday night and nicked a 1-0 win whilst never hardly touching the ball, we would be buzzing."

"Like last season, we have dropped some very silly points this season, and when it comes to the end of season it’s frustrating because you look and think if we had turned up that day or if that mistake didn’t happen we would have won that etc, but hindsight is a wonderful thing and in this league every game is difficult, and if your not on it no matter who it is or where they are in the league you can get turned over and that’s what’s happened to us and hopefully for younger lads they will have learnt that and also learnt the different styles of football in this league and what you need to do to combat it."

"Everyone is raring to go tomorrow against Winterton, we played them in September with a few key players missing and did ourselves absolutely no justice at all. After this weeks performances we need to get a big result to get ourselves going again. But it couldn’t be any tougher and it’s extremely disappointing going into a massive game off the back of two defeats in which we believed we could get something, but hopefully those defeats are the catalyst to a great team performance."
