Third league defeat of season at Winterton

DEFEAT FOR WELFARE AT WINTERTON.

Welfare slipped to their third league defeat of the season last Saturday with a 2-0 defeat at high flying Winterton Rangers. Joint manager Lee Vigars described the welfare performance as probably their worst of the season.

Managers Darren Holmes and  Vigars were forced into changes due to holidays and injuries. Goalkeeper Dan Waring returned after his one match suspension and Adam Walsh returned after injury in place of Sam Varley.  Josh Morley made a second debut for the club in place of Rich Collier who had earlier transferred to Hemsworth M.W. .

The home side hit the welfare post within the first few seconds of the game and Waring was forced into a number of fine saves.

Winterton took the lead on the 59th minute when Waring, who had saved at the feet of a home player, appeared to be held down whilst the ball was knocked about in the goal area. Rhys Vazquez finally hit it home.

Welfare had their chances with Andy Horbury, Nathan Keightley, , and Olly Maude all going close.

The sucker punch came in the last minute. Welfare were looking for the equaliser but Jamie Richardson nipped in to seal the game for the home side.

Welfare team: Waring, Marsh, Brearley. Hayton, McManus, Walsh,, Poskitt, (Maude), Akeister, Scothern, (Horbury) , Keightley, Morley.

Attendance: 63
