Club News: There are several items below to note regarding the Football Club:-

• Preseason

Preseason training for all three teams will begin on Wednesday 27th June, 7pm meet at the club. A full schedule of training, fitness, social events and matches will be released to interested players in due course.

New and existing players are welcome to attend. Football at GFC is free, all we ask is that players buy into the club ethos and most of all, enjoy themselves.

• Football Management

The 1st Team will remain in the hands of Johnny and Dave Warren. The league recently announced that fixtures will commence on Saturday 11th August.

We are delighted to announce that Daniel Cock has joined the club as Reserve Team Manager. He will work with Liam Ward, who will continue to play next season. Dan switches to GFC from Castle Cary Reserves after leading them to 7th in the Yeovil and District Premier Division last term. Dan has also previously managed Wincanton Town U18s and is working towards his FA Level 2 badge.

Our U18s now have a new management team for the 18-19 season. First Team player Billy Whittaker has been given the job following interview. Bill works at Bristol City as Head Coach of Futsal and is FA Level 2 qualified.

Bill will be working with last season’s U18 captain and 1st Team rising star Ely Bentley who is starting his route into coaching at 18 years old.

• Governance

The Glastonbury Football Club Committee meets monthly to discuss, monitor and plan for the club’s future, on and off the pitch. If you believe you can bring a particular skill set to the committee and are interested in playing a part in the future of the club, please contact us in the coming weeks. Note that the AGM will be on 2nd July @7pm.

• Ground Development

Following Committee approval last month, the club has started significant work on both the clubhouse and the pitch. Both will be finished by the time the football recommences in August, so watch this space. A big thank you to those that have and are contributing towards these much-needed upgrades.
