Pumas saw through middle of Woodcote to make it 6 wins from 7

Pumas come from behind to topple Woodies

A bright, sunny and very cold February Sunday at Glebe saw the Pumas return fresh on the back of their Copper Final win last weekend. A much changed Pumas line up who were without Alfie Riley and Harrison Bowden-Brown and only had Timothy Hobbs available for the first half. This meant many boys had to play out of position for part of the game. Pumas started the better of the two sides without creating any clear chances. Woodies then opened the scoring in 10th min and the Pumas were unlucky to go in 0-1 down at half time. Our mascot Alfie Riley turned up to cheer on the boys and they all touched him for luck. Pumas were sent out in 2nd half to stop Woodcote from scoring for first 10 mins and then push on to get back into the game. Pumas had the majority of the possession during this period and were rewarded with a rocket of a goal by Ethan Ajikobi, our captain and MOTM. Woodies kept in the game and Oliver Soo made a couple of saves before Pumas broke away again. This time Archie Irwin managed to bundle the ball home after their goalkeeper mishandled the ball on the goal line after 45 mins. Woodies still had time to press for an equaliser, but the Pumas held strong to the end. This was a great team performance with plenty of passing and movement throughout. Their Manager gave praise to Oliver Soo after he made some very brave saves with one bouncing of the cross bar right on half time. Edward Smith made some great defensive tackles and together with George Manning, Archie Irwin, Timothy Hobbs, Brandon Simons, Richard Musayayi and Luke Perkins they all played very well in defensive positions. Strong running, pressing and passing from George Manning, Luke Perkins, Archie Irwin provided Ethan Ajikobi with a few chances with one exceptional shot during the second half that stung the goalkeeper's hands when the score was still 0-1 to Woodies. Very pleased the way the boys applied themselves against a team that were three divisions higher than the Pumas before Christmas. Pumas now expect to have a tough cup draw after the half term break due to our run of 6 wins from past 7 games.
