Glenrothes took 34 children to Crieff on Sunday for matches across all groups.
The Micros got some more tag practice under the watchful eye of the Glenrothes coaches, and the great thing about this age group is that you can see just how much they are enjoying themselves.
The P4s and P5s which is a big group at the club were supplemented by the addition of some new squad members playing for the first time. While they may have lacked experience they made up for it with enthusiasm and no lack of skills and were rewarded by being part of teams that won most of their games. They also scored a few tries of their own! It was great to see how well they blended in and with Glenrothes able to field two strong teams at this age group it looks good for the tournament season ahead.
The P6/7 group also had some newcomers and they would have found their matches tough going with Crieff a strong (and very big!) side. Undoubtedly the most enjoyable part of the day for them was the decision by Crieff to have some fun at the end and play 13-a-side on a full size pitch. This gave the players some idea as to what the future holds and it was all great fun.
Final point - our last Minis visit to Crieff saw the games played in a snowstorm so this was a great improvement! Thanks to our hosts at Crieff for all their hospitality.
This coming Sunday our squads travel the much shorter distance to McKane Park in Dunfermline where all the age groups from P1 to P7 will be taking part. Please note that there will be no groups training at home. Full details will be sent to parents and you can visit the Match Centre on the website.
