Playing fellow Evo-Stik North side Tadcaster Albion, the Hillmen took a 5th minute lead when Chris Baguley put in a cross and with Connor Martin lurking dangerously, the ball was turned into his own net by Taddy's Josh Barrett.
What followed was an object lesson in solid defending, as Glossop repelled pressure around their 18 yard box. On the odd occasion that the home side did break through they found Russ Saunders in fine form, including a good save from Aiden Savory.
The tie was put beyond doubt on 82 minutes when Tadcaster failed to clear their lines effectively and the ball fell to Baguley. The midfielder volleyed the ball from just outside the box and his low shot hit the inside of the post and bounced into the net.
Callum Chippendale might have made it three shortly afterwards, whilst at the other end a timely intervention that denied Greening meant that GNE were not forced into dealing with an Alamo-esque siege of their area in injury time. In the end, they saw out the game quite nicely.
This win matches Glossop's best performance in their short time in the competition. They will hope to go one better against Matlock, even though they play a level higher.
