Glossop North End U9 Piranhas 0 Chadderton Park U9 B 5
It was a day when the Piranhas never got going. They were on the back foot from the start. They fell behind to a long-range shot which found the corner of the net and the deficit was extended when a Chadderton Park free kick flew high into the net. A fine save by Will Winbow prevented further damage.
Alex Friend hit the post with a speculative shot and the Chadderton Park goalkeeper palmed a fierce Joe Henniker shot over the bar. Chadderton Park were unlucky not to further extend their lead. Oliver Stonehouse, Alex Friend, Charlie Davies linked to put through Ben Gove but Chadderton Park cleared the danger. Chadderton Park increased their lead just before the interval.
The pattern of the match was continued in the second half with Chadderton continuing to press. Good defensive work by Jack Morris and excellent tracking back by Oliver Stonehouse prevented further goals for the opposition. Eventually, Chadderton Park’s pressure told and they added two late goals.

The Sharks dominated their match without fully pressing their superiority home. Freddie Rimmer and Oliver Parker combined to give Will Valentine an opening but his left-footed shot was wide before a Max Fitzgerald shot eluded everyone. Another cross caused panic in the Chadderton Park area but Oliver Parker could not force the ball home.
A rare Chadderton Park foray only forced a brilliant fingertip save by Josh Ward. Joe Aspden was brilliantly composed on the very few occasions he was called upon in defence. The Sharks continued to have the lion’s share of possession and Freddie Rimmer was denied when through on the keeper.
The Sharks eventually obtained their reward when the keeper deflected a Kieran Coggin throw into the back of the net at the start of the second half. Will Valentine fired a Max Fitzgerald pass just wide of the net. Oliver Parker stopped a rare Chadderton raid with calm defending.
A series of Kieran Coggins shies caused chaos in the Chadderton Park area: Will Valentine prodded a chance wide while the keeper blocked a deflection off a defender. At the end of the game, the Sharks could only reflect that they were too big a mountain to climb by the Piranhas.
