We are delighted to report that GNE Juniors have been awarded the prestigious FA Charter standard community club status

Glossop North End Juniors are proud to announce they have been awarded the status of FA Charter Standard Community Club which will begin their 25 Year celebrations.

This status recognises and rewards high quality levels of provision in club football and it is awarded to clubs that are well run, sustainable, which place child protection, quality coaching and safety paramount.

Liam Rooney senior football development officer for Derbyshire County FA broke the news. “I am delighted to inform you that your FA Charter Standard Community Club application has been successful and approved by The FA. “Glossop North End Juniors FC has now joined an elite group of 21 FA Charter Standard Community Clubs across Derbyshire. It is a great achievement to gain this Award as this is the pinnacle of the FA Charter Standard Club Scheme. Many Congratulations to you and everyone at the club. I appreciate the amount of time you have spent on this, so thank you”.

Glossop North End Juniors provide weekly footballing opportunities to over 300 boys and girls, across 19 teams and have an exciting 5 year plan that they are committed to deliver.

Glossop North End Juniors are committed to a number of key projects all focussed around player and coach development to ensure they provide players with a safe and enjoyable pathway from an under 5 age group through to open age football. Key focus areas include adding to the age group ranges for Girls teams playing in the club, new Futsal sides and supporting the FA on all its Skills, Equal Opportunities and Respect initiatives. All Managers and Coaches at the Club must have as a minimum a 1st4Sport Level One qualification; the Plan will encourage all Club officials to undertake further recognised FA qualifications, to enhance the learning environment for all the children.

Chairman Martin Taylor commented – “As we entered our 25th year of junior football in the Glossop area, we knew we had look to the future and build on the excellent footballing standards we have set ourselves over recent years and also provide the right structure for growth. We have a brand new Club Management Committee and have formed a Football Development Committee to oversee all the football related aspects of the Plan. A new Fundraising Committee has also been formed comprising of parents and supporters from each Team in the Club, whose focus will be to organise fund-raising events on behalf of the teams and also speak with local companies on the sponsorship opportunities available within the Club. In addition we have filled the roles of Volunteer Co-ordinator, Facilities Manager, Kit & Equipment Co-ordinator and School Liaison Officer.
We are always looking for more volunteers to support our growth and help see this club develop over the next 25 years. We are extremely pleased the FA have recognised our efforts and thank Liam and his team for all their help and advice to date”.

Dave Rowlinson Vice Chairman and Manager of a number of Glossop Junior sides over the years, has been a driving force to achieve this status. “This is fantastic news for everyone involved with the club; players, parents, coaches and all our committee members who have worked so hard to achieve the Community Club status. The plans for the Club are very ambitious; I am delighted to be part of a team of volunteers who are committed to drive the initiatives forward. Exciting times ahead for Glossop North End Juniors! Viva GNE!”

Glossop North End Juniors have a number of activities planned to celebrate its Silver Jubilee, Community Club Status and the success of its players and teams over the last year with a Gala Dinner, presentation evenings and a Sport Relief 2014 event to follow.
Another exciting initiative for 2014 is that Glossop Juniors has formed key links with a Premier League Club, which will assist in its aspirations of quality player and coach development.
