The Piranhas dominated the game from the first kick to the last despite playing with ball which was clearly not spherical. From the start, the Piranhas strung a series of passing moves together. Ben Gove, Johnny Gibson, Teddy Fantom and Joe Henniker were all involved. Their superior passing led to a speculative shot from Jack Morris before a Johnny Gibson flick released Ben Gove whose shot went wide.
When Reddish Villa did attack they were denied by either solid tackling or a fantastic save by Will Winbow. Jack Morris was excellent in defence with both solid tackling and fine distribution of the ball. The Piranhas deservedly took the lead when Johnny Gibson fired the ball across the Villa area for a defender to deflect it into his own net. The Piranhas almost doubled their lead when Ben Gove spun neatly before dragging his shot wide.
Reddish Villa equalised at the start of the second half following a hopeful punt. The Piranhas were undaunted and reeled off another flowing move started by Will Winbow which involved Jack Morris, Teddy Fantom and Ben Gove. The Piranhas’ control of the game was reflected in further shots from Ben Gove, Johnny Gibson and Teddy Fantom.
In defence, Alan Purves took a no-nonsense approach when clearing the ball. The Piranhas deservedly won the match with the last kick of the game. A fine throw-in by Jack Morris allowed Teddy Fantom to roll an opponent before dribbling to the edge of the area and tucking a left-footed shot across the keeper into the corner of the net.
