Blues Hang on For Win
After dominating the game for forty five minutes, Glossop switched off and almost paid the price......
Team : Joe Richardson, Louie Meates, Logan Booth, Jacob Donnelly (c), Jake Pearson, Dylan Johnston, Thomas Kuczaj, Thomas Brogden, Jack Cowan, Mackenzie Lomas.
The first thing I would like to mention here is a complaint regarding the constant haranguing of the press officer from various sources at the matches, these reports are NOT a means of getting revenge and spreading of rumours amongst the fans and this has to stop, I must add, that if Carlsberg did muppet shows, then the GNE u-12s supporters would be the result. ( ahem ).
After last weeks second half show, we the supporters demanded a good start from the lads, and we got it, we were in control of the match all the way until the last ten minutes when we appeared to switch off a bit.
A neutral would probably have described the game as a bit scrappy to be honest, but Glossop were much more positive, early pressure resulted in a series of corners and two of these led to two headed goals from the prolific Brogden ( Broggers to his mates ), I must add the standard of corners from both Pearson and Kuczaj was superb throughout.
Richardson in what could be his last game due to egg chasing commitments was as cool as ever between the sticks and as sweeper when the Panthers did claw their way through.
The three defenders, Booth, Meates and Donnelly combined pretty well with the Romiley strikers having to feed on scraps or the odd miskick to get any joy and this resulted in an element of frustration from certain Romiley players.
But, we couldn't add to the goal tally, which was causing consternation from the more vocal of the Glossop mob.
So, we went in at half time two-nil to the good and looking untroubled, a third was added by Booth with a dribbler of a shot after a corner had been cleared, this led to some numpty in the crowd stating that was it, game over etc.etc. Imbecile!
Cowan had been using his lightning pace all morning and after some re-jigging, Lomas was upfront and had several efforts either saved or just wide.
Johnston was also as busy as ever between the boxes ( nice to see his dad actually turn up for a game, as well as lucky mascot Meates senior ), and then, to the last ten minutes where it all went a bit fruit shaped, we conceded two very scrappy and avoidable goals which meant Romiley got a second wind and had the fans nervously looking at watches ( even though most of em can't tell the time ! ), but desite aeons of Fergie time, the boys did the business and we had the points.
After last weeks full house, there was a lack of Rowlinsons' on view today, hob-nobbing it somewhere in the Lakes if the rumours are to be believed, so we were led by Hoff and Deidrie on this very chilly autumnal morning but as the saying goes, a win is a win!
MOMs were Broggers and Kuczaj.
And Leeds lost again. # misery
