Glossop NE U9s v The Vipers Whites U9s
Glossop North End U9’s – Saturday, 3 September 2011
Glossop U9 Sharks 0 Vipers U9 A 6
From the kick off, the Sharks were under pressure. Jack Walton produced a great save to deny the Vipers but he was unable to keep them out after a flowing move. Kieran Coggins had a shot deflected wide for a corner as the Sharks went in search of the equaliser. Jack Walton prevented Vipers doubling their lead but his good work went in vain as Vipers scored from the resultant corner.
In a rare attack, the Sharks forced a corner which Will Valentine fizzed across area. Vipers swept down other end only to be denied by a great block by Jack Walton followed by an even better save. Vipers doubled their advantage with an assured move from a throw on the left wing and fine individual skill on the opposite wing. At the start of second half, there was more good work from Jack Walton to block a long-range shot. Vipers scored when a Glossop clearance was fired back in and the rebound was netted.
Johnny Gibson displayed great skill as he dribbled past two Vipers’ players and his cross was just behind his team-mates. Vipers broke up the other end where Ben Gove tracked back to prevent another goal. Vipers continued to press where Kieran Coggin showed tremendous commitment in twice clearing with his head. Vipers registered another with another long-range shot. The Sharks best move involved Kieran Coggins and Will Valentine whose cross narrowly eluded Max Fitzgerald and Josh Ward.
