A near 400 mile round trip for the second time this season with only 21 players and no head coach, it seems most BAFANL teams this season would have took the easy option and forfeited, but the Centurions players available this week have pride, commitment and determination, and never thought twice about travelling down to Newquay to take on the Sharks.
The first quarter was a close affair with the Sharks making the majority of yards and taking a 7-0 lead. The second quarter continued almost the same with the Centurions offence struggling to get a first down and often handing over the ball to the Sharks in their own territory. The Sharks scored twice more to lead 21-0 at half time.
By now injuries were starting to mount up. To then lose your qb and tight end to injury at half time and 2 of only 5 offensive linemen shortly in to the second half would have forced most teams in to asking for a running clock or even quitting, but the Centurions did neither, we owed it to ourselves and our generous hosts the Cornish Sharks to finish the match in full. Several players stepped up to the mark and put their heart and soul in to it playing both ways for the majority of the game and the 3rd quarter finally saw a long offensive stand by the Centurions including a cheeky 24 yard gain from running back Shaun Griffin with a fake punt.
Going in to the final quarter 37-0 down the Centurions never gave up and several offensive players took to the field to help out the defence including centre Daf Farr who managed to get an assist on a sack which helped restrict the Sharks to only one more td in the game, final score 44-0 to the Cornish Sharks.

Defensive MVP - Ben Harris - leading tackler and general hard worker playing virtually the entire game both ways
Offensive MVP - Drew Newiss - Stepped up to play anywhere he was needed, normally our starting wide receiver he also had to cover at tight end and the entire second half as qb. Also made 3 solo tackle and 1 assist on defence!
