Glynneath came from behind to clinch victory in the Glamorgan Silver Ball final overcoming a Maesteg Quins outfit that had gone two seasons unbeaten, and were the current holders. The game was pretty even in the opening fifteen minutes, but the Quins had the edge at scrum time. Maesteg's Gareth Lewis with the wind at his back went close with a fifty five metre penalty. Glynneath were trying to play running rugby, living off scraps of possession while the Quins were happy to play the corners. They took the lead when Gareth Lewis[35] slotted over a penalty. Another Glynneath error saw them punished for a loose kick and the Quins Ryan Lovett[35] raced away to the posts to give his Captain, Lewis[36] the simplest of conversions. Glynneath found themselves ten points in arrears but were boosted when the opposition lost a player to the bin two minutes before the interval. From the resulting penalty Jack O'Reilly saw his effort sail just wide.Glynneath came out for the second half, a different side as they pounded the Maesteg line but the Quins defence did well to keep them out. Pressure saw them soon crack, and a clever kick to the corner by Jack O'Reilly saw wing Johnny Morgan[47], gather but still had a lot of work to do before breaking through to run around to the posts. Jack O'Reilly[48] converting.Glynneath lost a player to the bin when centre Kyle Roberts was carded for what was adjudged a deliberate knock on. This didn't stop Glynneath drawing level from a snap drop goal by Jack O'Reilly[53]. Roberts not long back on the field was given a second yellow which resulted in a red. Although Glynneath had to finish the last ten minutes with fourteen men they still looked the stronger side and although the Quins now playing into the wind they were forced to run from deep and the Glynneath defensive line snuffed out any such moves and they completed a remarkable comeback when Jack O'Reilly[76] fired over the match wining penalty to bring the Silver Ball back to Glynneath for the first time since 1963.
