Mike Harper and his team of real heroes completed a gruelling speed march from Hull Ionians to Goole RUFC last Saturday and raised approximately £8000 for a charity which cares for soldiers injured in action.
Mike, a former light infantryman and nine others finished the 20 mile trek in just over 5 hours to raise money for the Rifles Charity 'Care for Casualties'.
The team which included current and former soldiers and rugby club members set off from Hull Ionians carrying 44lbs of weight on their backs and finished at Westfield Banks where they were welcomed back by a host of supporters.
Mike said 'the march went really well and it's a brilliant achievement...everyone did really well, there were a few blisters at the end and it was a relief to get everyone home'
The day finished with a disco and live bands.
Money is still coming in and anyone still wanting to donate should visit www.justgiving.com/Mike-Harper.
