Pocklington U15 21 – 26 Goole U15.

After the recent weather it was a mild and dry Mothering Sunday morning at Feathers Field for the U15’s fixture at Pocklington. All teams want to win on this special day and expectations from both teams were high on the back of victories the previous week.

With Edward on County duty, Peter was promoted to captain.

From the off ,the pattern of the game was set with Goole controlling possession and playing the game in the Pocklington half of the pitch but the Pocklington defensive line held firm.

A medical for Tiger brought Kieran into the fray and minutes later he was crashing over the line to open the scoring for Goole (0-5).

When Pocklington gained possession of the ball it was the Goole line that held firm until Pocklington found a gap and fancy footwork from the Pocklington back was rewarded with a converted try (7-5).

The Goole supporters have great expectations from the Goole backs. When the backs are in full flow tries are created and Joseph duly obliged with a trade mark score and added the extras (7-12).

Having taken the lead once Pocklington were not going to fade now, within minutes of the restart Pocklington regained the lead with a converted score under the posts (14-12).

Goole then found another gear and pressurised the Pocklington defence. Marshall took control of the ball 2 metres out and crashed over the line for his first try for the club, to the delight of the travelling support, 2 points from under the sticks and Goole edged ahead (14-19).

Goole now had the momentum and pulled further ahead with a converted try from Joseph (14-26).

A tense finish was set up following the team try of the day from Pocklington when great support play was rewarded with a consolation, converted try (21-26).

Goole closed the game out and recorded their 3rd victory in as many outings.
