Rain,Frost,Snow seem to be the winners in this week's blog.

On Saturday morning at 9am,i walked the pitch on my own and feared the worse,Dick then turned up,and he also wasn't that hopeful, then my confirmed fears were heightened by Dave Frost's arrival,he always wants to get the games on,but even he didn't like our chances.

Yes the sun was shining, yes parts of the pitch were thawing quite quickly, but i have to say the concerns were the car park end goalmouth and sadly the same bit near the changing rooms, where the sun never gets, both these sections of the pitch were not playable.

We called in Dave Fairhurst to come and do an inspection at 10.30,we are very grateful for Dave giving up his time to carry out a proper pitch inspection, this he duly did,and after 20 minutes it was clear the game wasn't going to make it.

Now for what my opinion is worth, the pitch at 11 o'clock was NOT playable, his decision was spot on.

We all agreed,so the text messaging starts and the phone calls rain in,now i clearly see our supporters opinions that the call off may of seemed early(Dereham called our Reserves visit OFF on Friday at 12 o'clock dinnertime)but whether or not the sun was shining all Saturday afternoon,Alf Grey visited the pitch at 2 o'clock and he said it wasn't playable then either.

We didn't want to make Thetford travel on a lost cause,or the officials for the day,so even though it was early,it was the right call.

Tuesday's night game at Team Bury was postponed today at dinnertime, snow on pitch and probably waterlogged as well, common sense prevailed,no point in delaying the inevitable,so they duly called the game off very EARLY.

Sadly the weather doesn't look great for the whole week, and our game vs Swaffham must already be in doubt,as must our Reserves game at home to Diss on Saturday.

I know the backlog of fixtures is going to cause a huge headache for us all,Management,Committee,Players and above all our brilliant supporters, but we simply can't do a thing about the weather.

As i've said we will need all our squad fit, lots of games ahead,i know there won't be many training night's on Tuesdays anymore this season,as we have lots of midweek games to fit in,but we have faith in our 2 squads and i'm sure the lads will prove that our faith in them will be justified.

I can confirm that we have agreed another month for Reece Hunn,i personally am delighted Reece is still with us,with all the games coming up he will prove valuable to our run in,Gary Williams has also agreed his loan extension and that ends on May 9th.

We have completed the signing of Ryan Bloomfield,'Bloomy' is a quality addition to the club,he's very versatile player with bags of Ridgeon's League experience,he is very happy to be on board with us and i'm sure he cant wait to get started for Gorleston. My thanks go to Steve Balls and Bob Mckechnie for allowing Ryan's quick move to the club.

On the injury front,Luke Goreham is back, which is another plus for us on the management side,we know what he brings to the side,a valuable member to the club, and let's hope he can stay injury free till the end of the season.

Well done to Catfield on Saturday for holding West Lynn to a 3.3 draw in the Norfolk Junior cup,i'm sure they will fancy their chances in the replay this Saturday at home, good luck to Peter Self and his troops, let's hope they make the Carrow Road Final, that would be excellent for our local area.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Kenny(the man behind the bar) on Tuesday,i'm sure his 40th party will go well, all the best Kenny from everybody at the club, have a great day.

I hope i have some football to report on next week, don't hold your breath though, hope you all have a good week and hope this weekend both teams can get the right results.
