Late Comeback Grabs Point for Greens
Two goals in the last six minutes saw Gorleston snatch a point at the New Croft.
There was just one change from the side that had beaten Gt Yarmouth on Easter Monday with Damon Wise coming back in to replace Reece Hunn.
Haverhill were still looking over their shoulder, trying to make sure they avoided a third bottom finish and they began the brighter and looked sharper throughout the half.
Luke Haines got in on the left but shot into the sidenetting before Ben Bradley gave Harley Clements the slip but was foiled by Taurean Molloy racing from his goal.
More trickery from Bradley fed Jordan Palmer but his effort was well over as Gorleston struggled to make any impact on the game.
It took the Greens half an hour before they finally began stringing some passes together and looked like a team fourth in the table but that only signalled the opening goal for the hosts in the 37th minute.
A long shot by Bradley was well saved to his left by Molloy. The ball went wide right to Rafal Wozniak who crossed it back in to where Jonathan Milne reacted first to nod the ball into the net.
Mitchell Burr shot wide of the Gorleston goal before the Greens best chance of the half in stoppage time. Joel Watts latched on to a Jacob Short throughball and rounded the keeper James Philp, but Philp just got a finger to the ball forcing Watts wide. He had to turn to cross back in and the chance was gone.
Three minutes into the second half a harch looking free kick was awarded against Aaron Taylor on the edge of the box for handball when the ball had been drilled at him hard from about a yard away.
Milne thumped the free kick low towards goal where it took a deflection but Molloy reacted superbly to make the save and keep his side only a goal behind.
Kyle Ingram replaced Luke Goreham and he got straight into the game crossing for Short at the far post but he was snuffed out by combination of defender and goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, at the other end, another good save from Molloy this time denied Haines.
Kyle Ingram's more attacking minded approach and terrier-like tenaciousness in midfield began to make things happen for the Greens, and wind the Rovers up as the game went through a tense period.
Gorleston did finally get an effort on target after 63 minutes, albeit a Connor Ingram daisy cutter from range that was straight to the keeper. Another, six minutes later, had the same result.
With Gorleston having to push forward in search of an equaliser, Haverhill doubled their lead with ten minutes remaining.
With the space to knock the ball about in the Greens half, Rovers played in Rory Jebb whose header just inside the post gave Molloy no chance.
At half time, Haverhill officials had said that seven times this season their side had been 2-0 up and they had failed to win any of those.
The Greens had already stuck George Yusuff up front and threw caution to the wind, but were down to ten men when they pulled a goal back within four minutes.
Kyle Baker had limped off after being caught late and was in pain off the pitch when Yusuff's shot was half blocked. The ball bounced into the centre of the box. Connor Ingram reacted quickest to get in front of the keeper, turn him and shoot the ball home.
Rovers nerves began to show as Gorleston piled on some pressure and Aaron Taylor saw his header blocked on the line.
A minute into stoppage time Gorleston got the equaliser.
Kyle Ingram's free kick into the box found Short at the back post and he turned it in from close range.
