Goodbye to friends

GHC wishes 'good luck' to two players who have left the Club in recent days.

Gorleston HC will be missing two players for 2012.

Herman Cheung has had to move away from the area to further his career, and also to try his luck in some different gambling establishments. 'The Herminator' has features in most games since he joined the Club and his help with managing the match day finances of the Club were greatly appreciated.

Darren Raymond (yes, that is his real name!) has been snatched away by Lowestoft Railway. Monty has been invaluable in helping to find players for Gorleston HC in recent years and without him the Club might not be playing any more. Monty is bound to feature in future match reports when Gorleston play against Railway and his battle cry ("I WANT IT NOW!") will be missed.

Fair well guys and our thanks for everything you have done for the Club while you have been with us. We wish you well and look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Another friend of the Club we must record a sad farewell to is former Captain and stalwart Peter Ghigi who at the young age of 50 regretfully died in a fall at home on Christmas Day. Peter and his brother Russell (to whom we offer our deepest symapathy and heartfelt commiserations) were renowned in the 1970s and 1980's for winning every trophy the Club had to offer . These trophies were memorable in themselves - the Ghigi Award in particular was the same size and shape of the average home's mantelpiece. If any current or former members of the Club still have any of them in their possession or know of their whereabouts I should be very interested to hear from you as the Club's archivist. In the meantime farewell Peter RIP.
