Gosforth and Newcastle Falcons 140 year Dinner

7 months ago By Derek Reid

Congratulations to Gosforth Stalwarts

Congratulations to Malcolm Stokoe and John Short, who were inducted to the Hall of Fame at last night's dinner to celebrate the 140 year history of Gosforth Rugby Club and Newcastle Falcons, both inductees deserve the honour for the years of dedication they have given Gosforth both on and off the field. Malcolm was presented with his award by ex Gosforth, England and British Lion, Roger Uttley, who himself is a inductee of the Hall of Fame. Roger also presented John Short's award, which was collected by daughter Juliet,as John is currently recovering in hospital following a recent operation. Everyone at the club wishes John a speedy recovery. Congratulations also go to Ken Lockerbie, who is another dedicated ex Gosforth player, and President of the Club, who was also inducted last night. Unfortunately both Ken and his wife, Jean, could not make the night due to ill health. Our best wishes go to them both.
The evening brought together a lot of ex players and friends, who, for some, had not seen each other for a lot of years. As you can imagine, once the beer and wine took effect the stories told were for the evening only.
Forth to the Field!
