Hampshire Rugby Football Union are delighted to announce that four of their successful Under 16 side have been named in the 28-man London and South East Division squad that will take part in the England Schools Festival at Broadstreet Rugby Club near Coventry over the weekend of 10th to 12th February 2012.
The four players named in the squad from Hampshire are:
Joe GWYTHER (Amery Hill School and Alton RFC)
Alec HISCOCK (Westgate School and Winchester RFC)
George SEWELL (Hounsdown School and Winchester RFC)
Jerome TRAIL (Milton Cross School and Gosport & Fareham RFC)
Hampshire RFU and Under 16s team manager Alan Morgan wishes the boys well for the selection and look forward to hearing about more success in the festivals.
Seven other Hampshire players were put forward for the trials, which took place on Sunday. They were:
Joe Batley (Bay House School and Gosport & Fareham RFC), Ross Catlin (Lord Wandsworth School and Basingstoke RFC), Tom Kershaw [/b[b]](Portsmouth Grammar School and Gosport & Fareham RFC), Joe Marchant (Henry Beaufort School and Winchester RFC), Ross Miller (Mayfield School and Portsmouth RFC), Kemp Price (Sandown Bay Academy and Vectis RFC), Ellis Rudder (Oaklands Catholic School and Portsmouth RFC).
Team manager Alan Morgan stated, "After a very successful season in which Hampshire beat Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Sussex and only losing narrowly to Middlesex, it was a sign of the quality of the squad that we had 11 Hampshire players selected to participate in the Divisional selection process. And we want to heartily congratulate those four who made it through and also congratulate the other seven who represented the County with distinction in the Divisional trials."
