At last an opportunity to play a game! After all of the rain and numerous postponements, it was great to see the boys play football again in this friendly away to Fleur de Lys Victory.
In a scrappy opening 10 minutes it took both teams a while to settle on a pitch that could have done with a cut. Having said that it was the same for both teams and Fleur de Lys must have felt confident in getting a result given they have just won the 'D' League with a record of Played 14 Won 14.
As the half wore on it was Gosport Falcons that looked the more likely to score as they began to express themselves and pass the ball. On 22 minutes Gosport Falcons took the lead through Adoniah Musaigwa with a really good finish after some really good play from the Falcons midfield.
Fleur de Lys to their credit tried to find a way forward but could not find a way past the back three of Dylan, Olly and Jonathan.
Leon James doubled the Falcons lead on 27 minutes scoring with a right footed shot into the bottom corner of the Fleur de Lys goal to make the half time score 2 - 0 to Gosport Falcons Black.
With numerous changes in the first and second half Gosport Falcons controlled this game really from start to finish in what turned out to be quite a physical encounter.
With the second half two minutes old Charlie Garrett scored Gosport Falcons third goal with again another cool finish.
Fleur de Lys pulled a goal back in the 44th minute after a ball that should have been cleared long before the ball found the net and there was still time for Falcons to miss what was a well struck penalty.
Overall it was pleasing to see the boys back playing football again but there were also some stand out performances throughout the team today with every player working hard for the team.
