The Starch fielded arguably their strongest side for many months and were rewarded with a strong start with forwards and backs combining to put the home side under pressure. Uplands, who had beaten the visitors comfortably back in September, proved very adept at the tight phases and kept in touch with the Starch in the first half.
However, the youthful skill and enthusiasm of the Gowerton side came to the fore in the second period where the pace of Starch backs caused problems from long range. Good distribution and decision making from out half Callum McKenzie allowed plenty of possession to the three-quarters and resulted in Drew Gibson scoring a fine hat trick in the final quarter. The constant probing of scrum half of Cameron Dawson was rewarded with a try following an impressively athletic dive.
Evergreen second row and skipper, Steve Howells
took two conversions for Gowerton; his first and his last.
