Goytre United gave a professional performance in our 3-0 victory at Pontardawe Town.

Goytre United went into the game at Pontardawe Town again with a changed team from the one that beat Haverfordwest County the week before.
Stuart Hoskins and Emyr Williams both sat out a one match suspension with Robbie Walters and Paul Jones both unavailable. So manager Derek Brazil had to shuffle his pack bringing in Mark Nappieralla and Jacob Daly both back from injury, promoted from the reserves was Liam Mc Ginley and also including Rob Shannon on the subs bench after a three month lay off.
The day before saw the transfer of Richard Ryan back to Goytre United from Havrerfordwest County, and Richard started on the bench.
The game from the start was played with a high tempo, with our hosts trying hard to get a foot hold on the game.
It took the Goyt a little time to settle on a sticky pitch with midfield players Adam Carpenter and Ricki Morgan trying to get the ball down and play. But it was Pontardawe trying to force the early issues with the Goyt happy to control things. As the match progressed the Goyt felt more and more at home, but bad news for United in the twentieth minute saw prolific striker Craig Steins go off the pitch with a ankle injury. This was a blow to United especially with the Welsh Cup match at Prestatyn looming next week.
This saw the return of striker Rob Shannon who came on for the injured Craig Steins. Rob had been out of the game for three months after breaking his wrist at Bryntirion.
And what an impact he had on the game, within five minutes the Goyt were 1-0 up with Rob Shannon scoring with a back post header. Every Goyt supporter was delighted for Rob who have had a very difficult few months.
This spurred United on and we started to control the game and ten minutes later we extended our lead when young Liam Mc Ginley scored with an excellent half volley into the top corner. What a moment for our young player who did not look out of place all afternoon.
Pontardawe again pushed hard to reduce the deficit but again United skipper Ryan Morgan was outstanding at the back.
The second half saw Pontardawe throw further caution to the wind and they started to throw more and more players forward.
In fairness they had more and more of the possession and pressurised the Goyt but keeper Wyn Walters was not called upon.
Our third goal came ten minutes from the end when good pressure from Richard French down the right saw a hard and low cross being deflected into the Pontardawe goal by their own defender.
A well earned 3-0 professional win for the Goyt who showed great shape throughout.
Tactics were spot on with the Goyt now climbing to fourth in the league table.
