United fade after a bright start
Goytre United had the perfect start but two wonder strikes give Bridgend Town the points.
Goytre United made the perfect start in this Mac Whirter Welsh League Division One match at Glenhafod Stadium in front of a healthy crowd on a perfect night for football when Richard French scored from close range to give the Goyt a tenth minute lead. But the blues could not take advantage and Bridgend hit back to equalise after thirty minutes with a quality strike from twenty yards which give United keeper Wyn Walters no chance.
The turning point of the half came after forty minutes when United striker Robbie Walters squandered an excellent chance to put the Goyt in front just before the break.
This miss proved crucial for the Goyt with our visitors taking the lead after forty seven minutes with another wonder strike.
The Goyt put pressure on the Bridgend goal looking for that all important equaliser but it was never to be, the our visitors running out 2-1 winners.
