Match Report

Prims travelled to Gedling Miners Welfare following two games where points had been dropped in the last 10 minutes.

Gedling started the brightest and were in the attack from the first whistle and from a good save from Andy Fretwell Gedling had the first corner after 30 seconds. Prims defending of the corner was poor and when having the chance to clear only succeeded in giving the ball back to Gedling. After 3 minutes Gedling scored the opening goal following another corner Prims failed to clear with any distance then when the ball came back in a header across the goal found the Gedling striker Jepson unmarked to prod the ball home. Prims supporters were thinking it was going to be a long afternoon, but how wrong were they.

Prims regained their composure and shape and started to play football and created chances but Kurt Dallison and Kev Morrow’s efforts didn’t really trouble Heltorp in the Gedling goal. Prims defended well and were unfortunate not to equalise on 30 minutes when Brad Scard hit the cross bar from a direct free kick. On 37 minutes Prims equalised when a cross from Dallison was diverted in to the Gedling goal by Morrow.
Half time 1-1

The second half nearly started the same way with Gedling coming out of the blocks creating a chance but it didn’t trouble Fretwell, as the game went on neither team created clear opportunities. However after 65 minutes Prims took the lead through the goal of the game, an excellent cross field ball from Joel Isaac found Scard who with a one touch control set himself up to drive the ball across the goal into the far corner from a wide position.
Prims increased the lead 11 minutes later when George Lynam found Scard out wide whose cross picked out Morrow who placed the ball home.
Gedling who had already sent on two strikers to push for goals scored their second in the 89th minute when Jepson scored his second of the game.
The question every one was asking was could Prims hang on for the 3 points. This time they did but not without giving chances to Gedling by not killing the game and wasting some time.

However a superb performance from all after going one down very early on.
