Club AGM, Wednesday 28 January

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all players, umpires and members

Please be aware that Club training sessions at S. George’s have re-started – Tuesday evenings, 1930-2100

Rule changes effective 1st January 2015
1. Free hits awarded within 5m of the circle (which previously would have been taken back to the dotted line) can now be taken from point of offence. The ball must still need to travel 5m before entering the circle.
2. Long Corners are no more ! Where one would have been awarded, a free hit will be taken from the 23m line (25yds) in line with where the ball went out of play. As the ball is now inside the final quarter, rules governing all players being 5yds away and the ball having to travel 5yds before entering the D are in effect in this situation.
3. Control of the ball above shoulder-height is to be extended for use in District competitions too.

These rules should be in immediate effect from this Saturday’s matches. I would advise all captains and umpires to confirm these at the toss with their opposition to avoid any confusion.

Club AGM, Wednesday 28 January
This is your annual opportunity to prod and probe the General Committee of the club about their plans and the such like.
Many members will be aware of current issues arising from the current Trust and one of the main parts of the AGM is a motion which outlines a MOU for the formation of a new, Bare Trust. There is also a secondary motion.
I would encourage you all to attend and take a proactive part in what will be yet another important members’ vote.
