William (Bill) Denny died peacefully on Sept 12 2014.
Bill may well be remembered by many older members of Grange Hockey Club as he was an active player and umpire for many years.

A funeral Service will be held at Lorimer Chapel, Warriston Crematorium at 11 am on Wednesday September 24. Family flowers only but donations may be sent, in lieu, to the Marie Curie Hospice Edinburgh. No black ties please.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
It’s concerning to the playing committee that in the first week of all sides being active that over 50 players were unavailable for selection. It was only after one side’s opposition had forfeited that we were able to field bare squads for our 2s-6s and some of the results bear witness to our poor turn-out.
If this persists then the club will have to reconsider our league entries – we have already reviewed and reduced our cup entries following poor availability last season. If, at a future date, we were to undertake this ‘nuclear’ option, then there will be fewer playing opportunities for members.
A note of thanks to all players from the 7s squad who helped out in other, higher sides.

The Hockey section is developing a Club website in collaboration with Pitchero. Pitchero is an established Club/Team website provider. The aim of the website is to communicate information cross the Men’s, Ladies, Indoor and Youth sections relating to the 27 teams organised by the hockey section.
Please can you logon to the site and confirm your contact details, particularly you email address and mobile number. Please confirm your availability for the games throughout the season. Download the Pitchero ‘app’, this will provide Club News, team selection, match details and results. The success of the website is dependent on accurate information and membership details. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

2nd XI lost 2-1 to Western 2s. Goal from Tom Frenzel.
3rd XI lost 3-2 to Inverleith 2s. Goals from Craig Lamb & Cammy Devine.
Dev XI drew 1-1 with Watsonians 3s.
5th XI drew 4-4 with ESM 3s. Goals from Richard Mutch (2), Ross McHarg and Giggsy.
6th XI won 5-0 over Stirling Uni 2s. Goals from Neil Christison, Craig Robertson, Richard Dunbar & Mike White (2).
7th XI were awarded a 5-0 walk-over after WIT 2s scratched.
8th XI lost 4-1 to Falkirk 5s. Goal scored by Gordon Batchelor.
U18s drew 0-0 with Watsonians
U18s won 2-1 over Invereleith. Goals from Robbie Croll & Stuart Thurlow.
