The full back who impressed as 'trialist number 3' on Tuesday evening has signed a one-year deal with the club following his departure from National League side FC Halifax in the summer. Ross (20) has been training with the club for a couple of weeks and fans got their first glimpse of the full-back on Tuesday evening's win over Pinchbeck United.
Following talks on Thursday evening and turning down offers from elsewhere Ross agreed to join the Culverhouse revolution. Barrows who played on both sides of the defence on Tuesday evening is more naturally on the right handside.
Having been with FC Halifax for the last 4-years Ross has spent time with Frickley Athletic on-loan 2 years ago (whilst in the Northern Premier League) and last season on-loan at National League North side North Ferriby United.
On signing Ross had this to say "As soon as I met Ian Culverhouse and saw what his plans are for the season I knew this was the club for me, he has sold the club, the style of play and the future to me. The formation and what he expects from the players is a perfect fit and I feel I need games to further my career and Grantham is the perfect place to do so. I'm delighted to have signed and I'm really looking forward to the new season"
Whilst his new boss saw things in a very similar way, "I've seen what Ross is about for a couple of weeks now, he knows what is expected of him in his own half and what he offers at the opposite is superb. His deliveries into the final third are first class and already the fans have seen what he is about and I'm sure there will be more of the same. I'm delighted to have him on board, he is a major piece of the jigsaw in place"
