The 19-year old striker joins from League One side Peterborough United on-loan until January, following a successful pre-season with the Posh first team which has seen appearances against our County rivals Gainsborough Trinity and Stamford already this season.
Penfold joined up with his new teammates on Thursday evening for training and will be in the squad for Saturday's home friendly with AFC Mansfield. The young striker has had loan spells with St Ives Town, Biggleswade Town and Boston United in recent seasons and looks to the Gingerbreads to establish himself in senior football.
Peterborough United have also cleared the striker to appear in the FA Cup for the Gingerbreads and will train and play for the club between now and the opening game of the season at home to Bamber Bridge on Saturday 18th August.
Manager Ian Culverhouse had this to say "I know a number of clubs have been interested in taking the lad this season and I'm delighted we have managed to get him here. He actually played against us at King's Lynn Town last season whilst he was with Biggleswade so Tom Ward knows a little bit about him already"
