First Home Pre-Season Friendly Tonight

2 months ago By Simon Hayes

Ian Culverhouse hosts his first match at The Meres tonight against current UCL Division 1 Champions Pinchbeck United.

“I'm excited to get a side on the pitch. It feels a long time since the Stamford match. We've been putting in a lot of work in at training. I've been getting across how I want us to play and the positions I want us to set up at. I was told about Dennis Rhule and how he gets players fit, its certainly been fun to watch.

From the side that finished last season there have been players that have decided to leave the club. "Sadly players move on all the time, for many reasons, but that also means players come in. I'm really pleased Tom (Ward) has followed me. He knows the standards I set, which he'll be letting the other players know about. We have had players come in, some are still looking to player higher level so haven't committed. Then I've got those from last season and some great lads from the Academy. There can be a lot of movement between now and the start of the season so keep an eye on the team sheets over the next few weeks. As the season draws closer I’ll be more vocal about who is staying, where we’re looking to strengthen.”

Speaking about the change of Chairman “I’ve met Nigel and we got on really well. Even as someone new to the club I’m excited for what him coming in means.”

Before the season starts the club will be holding a fans forum “I’ve heard great things about the supporters and how dedicated they are. I’ve met a few already and they’re all really positive. At the moment we’re sorting out the best date for the fans forum, but it’ll great to meet even more of them”
