After reaching the final last season, The Gingerbreads bowed out to Matlock in the second round tonight.

Academy Scholars Tom Curtis and Kevin Da Silva Bastos, joined Tom Batchelor, Ryley Thompson and Jack Mcmenemy started for The Gingerbreads as Adam Stevens shuffled his side.

Matlock took the lead on 20 minutes from the penalty spot.

9 minutes later The Gingerbreads were level when Jordan Hempenstall fired home.

Before half time, Rhys Lewis replaced Tom Batchelor who picked up a knock. Then at half time, Andrew Wright replaced Michael Hollingsworth.

Just before the hour, Jordan Hempenstall played in Jack Mcmenemy on the edge of the box and he crashed the ball home.

Matlock were level after The Gingerbreads players felt there was a foul in the box but Adam Yates turned the ball home.

Matlock found a winner when a free kick wasn't dealt with by the Grantham defence.

Cup Action Again for Gingerbreads Attention turns to the second round of the Integro League Cup on Tuesday night when Grantham travel to Derbyshire to face Matlock Town.
The Winner Takes All In The Play-Off Final! Grantham play one of the biggest games in their history on Saturday in the play-off final, where they could clinch promotion to the Vanarama North.
