Monday Night Football For The Gingerbreads

3 months ago By Callum Boyle

Grantham play their second game in the space in two days when they make their first ever trip to Shaw Lane on Monday night.

The Gingerbreads are in excellent form having not lost in six games, the most recent addition to the run being an emphatic 4-2 win over rivals Stourbridge to propel the Gingerbreads in to 2nd place after other results went their way.

After Saturday's results, the Gingerbreads are now just seven points off the league leaders Altrincham, who still have a game in hand on Grantham.

Home side Shaw Lane, who were only formed in 2012, have surprised many this season, currently occupying 3rd place and are level on points with Grantham after drawing 0-0 at home to Ashton United on Saturday.

The Ducks, who play at Sheerin Park, also managed to surprise many by reaching the first round of the FA Cup, eventually losing 3-1 at home to Mansfield. Shaw Lane are currently unbeaten in four games.

Manager Adam Stevens says his side can cope with the quick turn-around in fixtures and have the ability to get a result on Monday: "Monday will be a difficult test for the players both mentally and physically but we are confident still. The lads are in good condition fitness wise and will continue to play the same quality football we know they possess in order to get a positive result on Monday night."

Tom Batchelor and Luke Shaw still remain unavailable for the fixture whilst the rest of the squad are all fit for selection.

For those supporters unable to make the match, there will be updates across out social media accounts.
