The Gingerbreads Denied a 7th Win In A Row

Starting the day in 5th place, The Gingerbreads play off hopes took a big blow against relegation fighting Corby Town.

After Saturday's pulsating victory at Buxton, Adam Stevens name the same starting 11 with Felipe Barcelos returning to the bench following his 3 match suspension.

The Gingerbreads started well but found Corby in the mood to make sure of their survival.

On 21 minutes Corby were infront when Aaron Brown headed home at the back post from a corner.

The Gingerbreads kept going and looked to level, but chances for Harry Clifton, Michael Hollingsworth, Lee Shaw and Luke Shaw all went agonisingly high or wide.

Just after half time, Felipe Barcelos came on in place of Jeremiah Dasalou.

On the hour Corby doubled their lead when Steven Leslie converted a penalty.

Rhys Lewis and Curtis Burrows came on for Michael Hollingsworth and Sam Purcicoe as the Gingerbreads went to 3 at the back.

It wasn't to be though as Corby got a third on 71 minutes, from a long free kick on the edge of the pitch which evaded everyone.

The final minutes The Gingerbreads travelling faithful showed their gratitude to a side that has given them so much joy since November,

The Gingerbreads could still make the play offs but Workington only need a point from their final 2 matches both at home to Ilkeston and Sutton Coldfield respectively.

Next though it's the Integro League Cup Final on Wednesday night against Bamber Bridge.
