Match preview from Michael Parker

Lewes v Grays Athletic

Grays are back on the road this Wednesday evening with Lewes and their picturesque Dripping Pan ground being the destination for this Ryman League Premier Division match.
Lewes have had a shaky start to the season including losing the last five games, although they have faced some tough opposition including the likes of title favourites Margate (1-5), well fancied Dulwich Hamlet (0-2) and Tonbridge Angels (0-2) who were in Conference South last season. This difficult run of fixtures has left Lewes in the early season relegation zone in 23rd place with just 2 points that were achieved in the first two games. What could be more worrying is the goal difference that already stands at -11.

Last season the games between the two sides resulted in a league double for the blues who won a Thursday night encounter 4-2 before travelling down to Sussex a couple of weeks later in March and winning 1-0 at the Dripping Pan. Grays come into the game undefeated in five games and the last three of those have been victories, including a hat trick of clean sheets that will no doubt please manager Jody Brown who now seems to have the team settled and hard to beat.
The latest victory was last Sunday against another Sussex team in the shape of Peacehaven & Telscombe and lifted the Blues into tenth position and just three points off the play offs at the time of writing. Match winner Kenny Beaney looks set to continue his role as captain in the midfield and unused sub Mark Bentley could be available to make his Grays debut. Jey Silva missed Sundays game but should be available again for wednesdays fixture. The kick off is 7:45 PM and the details of the ground are as follows:
