An individual effort from Fernando Vide - his third of the campaign - late in the second half wasn't enough to overcome first half strikes from Bradley Hough and Christy Finch and goals from Riccki Butler and Eddie Thompson after the break.

Four changes were made to the side that were knocked out of the FA Cup tie against Witham Town, ex-Green Mitch Forbes returned to the starting line up in place of Danny Scriven, George Barnden and debutant Iain Mills started in place of Johnny Jarvis and Joe Bryanton in midfield while Shaun MacLeod replaced fellow under 18 left back Adam Clarke

The visitors opened the scoring 90 second into the game, Rikki Butler’s lofted ball into the box fell to Steve Taylor whose first time volley was parried by keeper Ben Cudden. Unluckily for the Bloaters, the rebound fell kindly to Bradley Hough who after rounding Cudden, sidefooted Gorleston into an early lead from a tight angle.

Christy Finch rattled the post after racing onto a ball over the top on five minutes and George Jermy lashed a volley over the top while Riccki Butler curled John Bell’s dragback round the post.

The visitors doubled the advantage midway through the first half as Christy Finch beat Neil McMorran to Riccki Butler’s cross, looping his header into the roof of the net.

Steve Taylor bundled an effort wide from a yard after Christy Finch looked to capitalise on an error from Callum Jones and George Jermy planted a header over after a corner wasn’t fully cleared.

Yarmouth looked to capitalise on slack defending from the visitors just before half time. After latching on a loose ball, Charlie McAra looped a cross towards the run of Mitch Forbes, but the ex-Greens’ header forced visiting keeper Jack Whatmough into turning the effort onto the base of the post with the rebound cleared.

The hosts continued the pressure into the second half; George Barnden fired a scuffed effort at Whatmough after finding space on the edge of the box.

But the game was over as a contest five minutes into the second half. Steve Taylor latched onto a poor goalkick from Cudden and started a chain of passes that ended with Riccki Butler slotting a low shot under the Bloaters’ keeper.

Debutant Iain Mills lashed an effort over the bar, as did Callum Jones after good work by winger Fernando Vide to find his midfielder.

Substitute Danny Scriven had an effort from a yard out blocked by a defender following a corner after Andrew Howell’s poor backpass while at the other end Cudden turned a 35 yard rocket from Riccki Butler onto the post.

Steve Taylor to plant a free header goalwards following a short corner, but his effort hit the underside of the crossbar before being cleared away.

Butler was again involved on 79 minutes as a diagonal ball over the top sent the midfielder away, but the midfielder unselfishly rolled the ball across to Gary Williams who sidefooted wide.

Yarmouth’s consolation came 10 minutes from time, Fernando Vide using his trickery to skip past four Gorleston defenders before toepoking an effort from 20 yards towards the far post that was just out of the reach of Greens’ keeper Jack Whatmough.

But the three goal gap was restored six minutes later as substitute Jack Garrod floated a ball across for Greens’ captain Eddie Thompson to divert into the bottom corner with a diving header.

Hopes of a second for the Bloaters came in the first of three minutes of stoppage time as Fernando Vide powered a low shot after tricking his way past several defenders but the winger’s effort was deflected through to Whatmough.
