Yarmouth were forced to make changes from the humiliating 8-2 weekend defeat. Adey Ager was unavailable as he was in the process of signing for the visitors, his defensive partner Dan Baldock was also unavailable, Shaun MacLeod was injured as was James Page so it was a completely different backline of Eddie Short, Adam Clarke, Glen Spooner and Shaun Bartley.

Other changes saw the return of Adam Mills, who was made new club captain replacing George Barnden who was on the bench.

Yarmouth started nervy, as one would expect after Saturday’s debacle. Thomas Mustapha stood out straight from the start with his pace and skill in the Norwich United forward line. He has a couple of half chances early on. But it wasn’t until the 24th minute that the Planters took the lead Steve Shipley nodding home at the far post corner from Lee Hunter's left wing corner.

As in recent matches, that lead was doubled quickly, Mustapha profiting from a long ball and calmly slotting past Greygoose.

At half time Norwich United had been the better side of the first half but at 2-0 the Bloaters still had a chance to get back into the match. Young Clarke made way at half time for debutant Mark Allen and Yarmouth came out with more purpose for the second half. Scott Woodcock zipped the ball across goal and Mitch Forbes was unlucky not to connect with it in front of goal.

But, as recently has been the case, after Yarmouth’s period of pressure, the opponents then scored. Mustapha cut in from the left and crossed to Jordan Blyth who touched the ball on to Ian Hunter who netted his first goal for the Planters with a diving header from close range.

That goal effectively ended the home sides chances of a comeback. To make matters worse for Yarmouth the game stopped while goalkeeper Greygoose required treatment after connecting with the post. He was unable to continue and Scott Addy came off the bench to replace the young shot stopper.

Addy was beaten twice in quick succession midway through the half as Norwich United grabbed two goals in the space of a minute. Shipley notched his second in the 67th minute touching home at the far post from Andy Key's free kick.

George Wilson then finished the scoring with a delicate lob over Addy after Kieron Doherty had set him free in the area.

The only other real chance for Yarmouth came from a Mills free-kick which was comfortably saved.
