Greetland All Rounders Rugby League Club are delighted to have been successful on gaining entry into the Rugby Football Leagues newly formed Yorkshire Summer League.
They will compete in the emerging league which operates for four months from May to August.
However, the All Rounders will remain loyal to the Pennine League with two teams continuing to play in the winter league which operates from September to April.
Greetland now become the only club in Calderdale which offers all year round open age rugby.
What appeals to the Spring Rock outfit is the leagues flexibility. With fourteen league fixtures to complete in the summer league, the RFL have allowed clubs, if they wish, to arrange evening games.
All clubs currently registered winter league players are eligible to play, but Greetland believe this will also be an opportunity to introduce, if they wish, some of the players from the clubs two under 17s teams to open age rugby.
At the same time, the All Rounders could attract local Rugby Union players who want to give Rugby League a try.
A warm welcome is also available to players from existing winter league clubs.
Some of Greetlands winter league players who are at University and with work commitments whose Pennine League appearences were limited, will have more opportunity to play in the summer.
The first training session for the summer league will be on Tuesday 8th May at 6.00pm. For further details contact Barry Dyson 07771 997405.
Meanwhile, the youth development at the club continues to strongly improve and grow.
The All Rounders Under 15 team return from their successful Southern France Easter Tour to win the Halifax Challenge Cup with a comfortable 34-4 victory against Brighouse Rangers.
The game was followed by the Under 17 Halifax Challenge Cup final, when Greetland Rangers completed a superb double with a 22-16 victory in extra time against Ovenden.
