Overton Res 1 - 1 Gresford Athletic Res
On a heavy pitch Gresford played some good football and maybe should have had 3 points but for the Overton keeper making some very good saves.
Overton took the lead after a mix up in the Gresford defence near to the corner area and the resulting cross was put in the net to go one down after a promising start. Gresford got back into the game with a good through ball from Owen McGrath who put Chris Hughes in the clear and with a low shot took the equaliser, Gresford continued to press and went in at half time 1 - 1.
In the second half the opposition bossed the possession but created little to trouble Gresford's keeper. Chris Hughes looked certain to score when one on one with the keeper who made a good save to deny Chris his second. Sorab Zare replaced Chris Whitehall and quickly created a chance hitting a scorcher that looked a certain goal into the roof of the net which brought a terrific save from the Overton keeper who flicked it over for a corner. Another through ball put Chris clear again but was handled by an Overton player who probably should have at least been booked however the ref waved play on. Gresford continued to battle but couldn't find the winning touch, Alistair Gibson came on as he returned after injury and the disappointed looks show how positive this group of promising youngsters are
