Squad update

Following the departures of captain Max Peate, and Dave Mcintyre to Rhyl and last seasons top scorer Mike Latham and Joey Jones back to Queens Park manager Steve Halliwell has moved quickly to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.

New Signings

Joe Newton - Newts rejoins after a successful spell on loan during the 2016/17 season where he played a key part in the sides 3rd place finish and NEWFA cup win. Newts spent last season playing for Oswestry Town. Newts is a pacey, direct winger who adds to our attacking options.

Mike Jones- While still being young Mike has bags of Cymru Alliance experience having played for a number of sides including Prestatyn, Caernarfon, and Denbigh. Like Newts Mike started last season at Oswestry Town before moving to Holywell Town making just the one appearance. Mike is an agile goal keeper with great distribution

Sam Molyneux - Sam has been a top target for Halliwell during pre season. Sam has been a major part in Brickfield's strong league and cup performance's during the last two seasons.Sam is a quick, direct striker who will add further striking options to Jake Eyre and Owen Roberts.

Kieran Evans - Kizza joins from Runcorn town where he spent the 2017/18 season. Before his time at Runcorn Kiz was a Youth team, and Professional player at Chester where he also made a number of first team appearances. Kiz is a left back who can also operate in central midfield, or as an attacking wide player. highly sought after by a number of clubs getting his signature was a massive bonus.

Jordan Mccarter - Jordan has always impressed when playing vs Gresford for Ruthin Town which made him a high priority signing. Strong in the air, and good on the ground Jordan will add a different dynamic to the Gresford attacking for the coming season. Jordan scored 10 Cymru alliance goals last season where he played the majority of the season playing wide in a front three. Jordan was part of an impressive Ruthin side who impressed in the welsh cup, cymru alliance and won the NEWFA cup beating Holywell town in the final.

Halliwell is still hoping to add to his squad in some key areas before the squad return to pre season training on the 20th June.

As well as the new playing signings, Gresford have strengthened their staff with the arrival of coach Steve Dale who worked with the squad during Pre season last summer. A goal keeper coach is also hoped to be secured before the start of pre season.
