BARIS NORTERN COUNTIES EAST LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
HANDSWORTH v GRIMSBY BOROUGH
Grimsby Borough, sponsored by Newby Leisure, put their cup exploits behind them on Saturday when they travel to Sheffield to face Handsworth in a vital Northern Counties game.
Borough desperately need three points from the game as they appear to be slipping behind the teams above them.
Handsworth though will have other ideas. Last weekend they moved up to second in the table after their 5-2 victory over Eccleshill United in Bradford, thanks to a hat trick from Scott Bates and a brace from Sam Smith
a game that leaves them six points adrift of leaders Pontefract Collieries but with three games in hand. They are also undefeated at their Olivers Mount ground since Louth Town defeated them 0-1 back in early November.
Borough know they will have their work cut out but co manger Nigel Fanthorpe say's he hopes Tuesday was a turning point in the clubs season. We proved that we are a match for any team in the Division and the players have the incentive of a Cup Final to play for.
On Tuesday we took our chances well and the defence was strong all night, Albion were a good side but we held them out well and in the end Cookie in goal didn't really have that much to do, said Nige.

SWINESHEAD INSTITUE v GRIMSBY BOROUGH RESERVES
Borough Reserves travel to Swineshead Institute, for a dress rehearsal of their Challenge Cup Semi Final to take place next month, and will be looking to return home with three points.
Borough come into the game in third place in the league and know that a win would keep the pressure on second place Skegness United and the teams around them. Last weekend saw Borough return to winning ways when goals from James Deeming and Lee McFarland earned the side a 2-0 victory over lowly Sleaford Town Reserves
Swineshead are 26 points behind Borough in 13th place in the league but with games in hand have started to pick up points recently and last week over came Ruston Sports at The Causway ground. Swineshead know that three pouints are essential this weekend as they have a run of games against the top clubs coming up.
