WILKINSON SWORD TROPHY SEMI FINAL

GRIMSBY BOROUGH v ALBION SPORTS

Grimsby Borough, sponsored by Newby Leisure Ltd, welcome Albion Sports to the FDC on Tuesday Evening for the Wilkinson Sword Trophy Semi Final.

Both clubs are playing in the Semi Final for the first time and for Albion it is their first season in the competition.

Borough made the Semi thanks to comfortable victories over Yorkshire Amateur and Worsbrough Bridge Athletic here at the FDC 4-0 and 3-1 respectively. In the Quarter Final they travelled away to Teversal and came away with a superb 2-1 victory.

Albion meanwhile beat Rossington Main 3-2 in round One away from home whilst coming from behind to beat Eccleshill United 5-3 in Round at the Horsfall Stadium. Their Quarter Final was a fine 4-0 victory at home to Glasshoughton Welfare.

So in all the games Borough and Albion fans have seen 28 goals (an average of 4.66 goals per game)as their teams have progressed. Lets hope this continues at the FDC tonight.

Speaking to the Website Borough's Co-Manager Nigel Fanthorpe could not say just what this game means to the club. "It is everything for this season, in our short history i do not think there has been a bigger ganme for the club. The Lincs Trophy Final was enourmous for us last season but this is so much more as it is against our fellow league teams. Steve and i should not have to much to say to the lads before the game as they are all aware of it's importance".

Nigel went on to say "I know for you the fans this game is everything, i hope you turn up in your usual big numbers and get behind the team. Albion are a good strong side who will be really up for it at Bradley so you, the fans, can play your part in helping us beat them".
