On a nice evening for football in front of a good crowd the game started at a steady pace as both sides tested each other out.
It was Albion that created the first chance but good defending saw the ball out for a corner but nothing came from it. Borough responded but Fanthorpe and Drury kept finding the hug defenders a handful.

Meanwhile at the other end the Grimsby defence were quicker and more alert than the visiting forwards and the goal remained untroubled.

Borough forced their first corner in the half hour mark as the pressure built on the Albion defence. As half time approached though neither side looked like breaking the deadlock.

Borough were caught cold in the first minute of the second half when a low shot from Black from the edge of the area beat Drury to give Albion the lead.

Borough responded well and seven minutes later a cross from Fuller found Drury unmarked in the box and Adam best the keeper into the left corner of the goal.

This goal boosted the team and the crowd and the game really opened up with both sides creating chances. First Tadcaster then Petronzio opened up the defence but Jammers mazy run produced a weak finish.

Briggs then headed narrowly over as Borough took the upper hand. With twenty minutes remaing the ball fell to Drury 25 yards out and his superbly driven shot was brilliantly saved by Stevens who palmed onto the bar and out for a corner.

Tadcaster were still creating chances but Borough were fighting valiantly for the ball. Again superb work down the flanks by Borough were creating chances but they came to nought.

The red blew for time while Borough were in the accendecy and 30 minutes of extra time loomed.

It was Tadcaster that started the better wasting a couple of earl chances but once it was Borough that forced another point blank reaction save from Stevens as everyone thought Borough had taken the lead.

The second period like the second half saw Tadcaster strike in the first minute when a ball played across the box was headed back towards the goal and a simple tap in restored the visitors lead.

Tadcaster looked the stronger and Borough did well to clear off the line as the Premier side went for the kill. Still Borough wouldn't lie down and back they came forcing a couple of corners and as time was running a great cross saw the keeper misjudge his save and fortunately for him the ball spun wide of the upright and the resulting corner was cleared.

Unfortu time ran out for HEROIC Borough and the ovation they received at the whistle was really well deserved.

Tadcaster go through to the next round whilst Borough must pick themselves up as they face AFC Emley at Bradley on Saturday.
