Borough Miss Out on Promotion after Play Off Defeat
The Wilderness Boys were defeated 4-2 in there Play Off Final against Penistone.
Grimsby Borough fell to a 4-2 defeat in the Toolstation NCEL Division One Play Off Final at the Bradley FDC.
Penistone took the lead despite a strong start from the Wilderness Boys after 28 minutes, protest for a foul which caused Danny Grant to leave the field injured in pre play we're dismissein as the goal stood. Seven minutes later the visitors doubled their lead. Adam Drury then put home Jack Debnam's pass across goal. However the visitors regained their double goal advantage just before the break.
Shortly after the break Penistone extended their to three goals. Jack Debnam then pulled a goal back for Borough with an effort from 49 yards lobbing the visiting goalkeeper. However following efforts including Adam Drury's header against the post the ball failed to bounce Borough's way and the referee ended the game meaning Penistone were promoted to the NCEL Premier Division.
The defeat means Borough will once again participate in the Toolstation NCEL Division One next season looking to build on this season.
